You know my non-fiction riding instructor side through the Riding Instructor. Now meet me on my fiction side. Technically I’m a hybrid author with true stories in a collection with other authors titled Second-Chance Horses, but mostly I’m an Indie author with four books published. My series, For Love & Horses, is about perseverance, second chances, forgiveness and redemption. My characters deal with/have opinions on important issues in the horse world. I love writing strong characters who who overcome obstacles in their lives or in themselves. The stories are written for adults but they are wholesome enough for YA readers. Also available in audio book so you can listen while you haul horses!
#1 Remember Not
Focuses on the kind of horse abuse that occurs when an owner/ trainer tries to rise to the top by relying on the horse’s talent instead taking their time with training. He’s the rush job trainer who uses force and devices to win blue ribbons. The guy is a better breeder than he is a trainer and unfortunately he bred a horse that exceeds his own talent and courage.
Here’s the tag line and copy from the back cover:
She believes her rehabilitated show jumper is the ticket to the top for financial stability for herself and her daughter, but someone is out to kill the horse.
In a world where trust is scarce and risk lurks at every turn, Rylie Davis holds tight to her dream of financial stability for herself and her daughter. But when her beloved show jumper, Eskador, becomes the target of a sinister plot, her hopes are threatened like never before.
Eskador, once a symbol of resilience and redemption, now finds himself in the crosshairs of a deadly game. After winning the $40,000 Pandora Grand Prix, Rylie's world teeters on the edge of chaos. Little does she know, the spotlight that comes with success also casts a shadow of peril over her cherished companion.
Enter Jason Hughes, a man who sees in Rylie not just a talented trainer, but a chance at something more. Yet, when his actions lead to a breach of trust, he must fight to prove his worth, even if it means putting his own life on the line to protect the horse that once brought him shame.
As threats escalate, Rylie must confront the ultimate question: Can she trust Jason to stand by her side when everything she holds dear is at stake? In a tale of love, betrayal, and unyielding courage, Rylie's journey to the top is fraught with peril, but with Jason at her side, she may just find the strength to defy the odds and claim victory, both in the arena and in matters of the heart.
I love this review for Remember Not: “Such an incredible equestrian romantic suspense. I’ve missed many hours of sleep this week, but there are no regrets. I just couldn’t put the book down.”
#2 Where the Wild Ones Roam
This is the story of one woman’s fight against the government. She realizes one person cannot make the government change it’s course, so she uses her photography skills to create a photo documentary of a herd’s life.
Here are the tagline and the back cover:
She can’t stop the government from scraping thousands of horses from the wild, but she can photo document one herd. Time is running out.
Children’s ER nurse, Kristi Trevisano’s passions are wild horses and photography. She lives for time on the Nevada range with her camera to create a photo documentary of one herd’s history. The images of the horses’ families and how they lived will preserve their memory for generations. The battle for who gets to use government land, forces Kristi to keep her activities on a need-to-know basis.
Bob Clayton, the CEO of Clayton Industries, knows a thing or two about horses. His rancher father and grandfather were forces behind exterminating wild mustangs in Texas. He sets out to prove to Kristi he’s nothing like his father. But is he?
Kristi’s five-year grant to photo document a wild herd expires soon. The last person she needs involved in her activities is an interfering rancher — even if he makes her heart race and claims he’s only a computer geek.
With conflict on the range raging, will she get the last photos she needs to complete her project?
Kristi and the horses are running out of time.
Check out this review for Where the Wild Ones Roam: “A brilliant story which I couldn’t put down. Follows on from the 1st book seamlessly with lovable characters you can’t help but root for. Also raises awareness of a real life issue, brought me to tears at points. Keep writing I can’t wait to hear what happens next!”
